The Kraaipan School in the Transvaalbuurt neighborhood has won the 2014 Amsterdam New Construction Award. The award was presented Friday afternoon by Alderman Laurens Ivens, who oversees housing. The winner received over 15 percent of the votes. Second place went to the Wenslauerstraat Houses (14.2%), and third place went to the renovation project on Bankastraat (11.6%).
Laurens Ivens expressed his delight that the Kraaienpan School came in first place. "A brilliant project that makes it possible for people in Amsterdam to also live the last part of their lives there; to simply grow old there," said the alderman.
