The remaining available homes in 't Eilandhart are spread across two mounds (in Marken dialect: 'werven'): Zinkerwerf and Osselandwerf. These include detached houses, semi-detached houses, linked houses, and apartments. A brief overview of this housing supply:
The detached houses still available are for free spirits and people who love something special. They are located on the Zinkerwerf. These are homes of approximately 130, 178 (two of them) and 191 square meters. The three largest homes feature a basement at the rear with double doors leading to the garden. Above the basement, on the ground floor, is the living room with an open-plan kitchen (and French balcony). On the first floor, you have three bedrooms. You also have an attic storage space accessible via a loft ladder. The detached house of approximately 130 square meters does not have a basement, but is otherwise comparable to the basement homes, although the living room does not have a French balcony, but rather double doors leading to a private terrace. Each home has private parking on its own grounds. Prices range from 845,000 to 965,000 euros (free of transfer tax / v.o.n.).
The semi-detached houses still available are approximately 102 and 128 square meters in size. They are located (respectively) on Osselandwerf and Zinkerwerf. These are homes with a living room with an open kitchen, three bedrooms, and a fixed staircase to the storage attic. They have a terrace at the rear and a parking space on private property. The prices are 599,900 and 695,000 euros (free of transfer tax). Where in the Amsterdam region can you still find newly built semi-detached houses for those prices?
The three- and four-bedroom semi-detached and terraced homes all feature three bedrooms. It goes without saying that you can also use one or more of those rooms for another purpose, such as an office, study, or hobby room. For centuries, Marken was an island in the Zuiderzee (now the IJsselmeer and Markermeer). The inhabitants of Marken regularly struggled with floods. That intimate atmosphere returns in ’t Eilandhart, just like the characteristic Marken architecture. You can recognize it by black and green cladding, long roofs often with red tiles, small dormer windows, white window frames, paneled windows with muntins, and wooden ridge ornaments.
Marken offers a picturesque living environment with sweeping views of water and meadows. There is no shortage of amenities: in the charming old center, you will find restaurants and terraces by the harbor. And when the weather is nice, you can visit the small beach on the Gouwzee. Furthermore, there is a football club, a tennis association, a gym, a general practitioner, and a primary school. After eighth grade, the youth take the bus to secondary schools in Monnickendam, Volendam, or Amsterdam-Noord. Water sports enthusiasts can also fully enjoy themselves here; Marken is surrounded by water and has a marina. All in all, Marken is a great place to grow up, with all that space and freedom, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Yet that city is not very far away: Amsterdam is only half an hour away by car.
