De Krijgsman Muiden is rising on the site of a former gunpowder factory. The area lies just east of Amsterdam, close to the historic fortress of Muiden and the magnificent Muiderslot. It was once part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. That is a series of defensive works that had to protect Amsterdam from enemy armies. Beautiful remnants of both the factory and the fortifications have been preserved, such as the plofwal against which the houses of Loods IV are built. Furthermore, you can take lovely walks in the area along forest paths and through park-like areas. Because besides historical buildings there is also a lot of nature. And if you want a breath of fresh air, you can walk to the IJmeerdijk. There you can enjoy the view over the water. The district is in full development.
