NDSM was once one of the largest shipyards in the world. Now it's a place with creative companies, festivals, attractive restaurants, and an increasing number of homes, especially apartments. Such as in Boegbeeld. Naturally, you'll also find shops for daily groceries in NDSM. Within walking distance of Boegbeeld, you'll find an Albert Heijn supermarket and a HEMA store, for example. NDSM is also very centrally located: the nature reserve 't Twiske is in the immediate vicinity, although you can enjoy peace and quiet even closer to home: on the banks of the IJ. If you're looking for more urban excitement, you can easily take the ferry to the center of Amsterdam (Amsterdam Central Station). You can also get to other parts of the city from NDSM very easily by bus and metro. Several bus lines stop in the district, and the Noorderpark metro station is a ten-minute bike ride away.
