The building has a pleasant atmosphere. From day one you feel safe and at home here. If only because family and friends are as welcome here as at home and our healthcare professionals are close by. Construction has already begun: around the turn of 2025-2026 we will welcome the first residents.

Transparent facade, inviting courtyard
VanIJburg is rising on Cas Oorthuyskade, close to the bridge between Steigereiland and Haveneiland-West. A striking feature of the design is the large glass facade that emphasizes the openness of the building. Residents and visitors feel immediately welcome - also because there is so much space and light. The striking passageway on the first floor connects the entrance to the courtyard garden. It also invites local residents to enjoy it.

Living options in VanIJburg

With a view of bridge and water and sometimes the setting sun, it is good living in the apartments. The building has six floors of housing for different target groups: 

Own apartment with Full package home
On the third and fourth floors there will be 20 apartments for people who need heavier care due to old age or illness. The care Amstelring offers on the third and fourth floor is called Full Home Package (Vpt). You rent the apartment yourself, and Amstelring provides nursing home care and support in your own apartment. The beauty of a Vpt is that it gives more freedom of choice in how you want to receive your support and care.

Group living with dementia
On the first and second floors there will be 36 studios with communal living rooms for people with dementia. Amstelring provides nursing home care and support here in warm settings tailored to the residents.

Studios for people with key jobs
On the fifth and sixth floors there will be 10 studios for people with key professions. For example, they work in healthcare and education. The studios have a living area of about 40 m², are playfully arranged and have a communal roof terrace.

Space for meeting and caregivers
The first floor of VanIJburg is all about lively conviviality. Here you will find the beautifully decorated meeting area, intended for, among other things, daytime activities that add color to your day. This space also overlooks the beautiful courtyard garden behind the building. There is also space on the mezzanine for such things as general practitioners and physiotherapists. We are currently holding discussions with healthcare providers who may want to establish themselves here.

Sustainably built
VanIJburg has an eye for people and their environment. Sustainability is therefore a high priority. For example, the building is largely constructed of wood. In addition, insulation, solar control measures, LED lighting, heat recovery and underfloor heating ensure lower energy consumption in the building.

Easily accessible
VanIJburg is easily accessible. The building is located next to IJburglaan, the main road in the neighborhood. Streetcar 26 stops just a few minutes away on foot. From the Amsterdam ring road, it takes about five minutes by car to get to VanIJburg.
