Van IJburg, Amsterdam: independent rental apartments with home care. Also group living (dementia) and studio apartments for key workers.

Do you need heavy care every day, but do you still want to (continue to) live independently? Then the VanIJburg residential care building in Amsterdam IJburg is something for you. VanIJburg will feature twenty mid-priced rental apartments where you can live independently with home care. In addition, VanIJburg offers group living for people with dementia and studios for key workers (healthcare, education, or safety). Rental is expected to start in September.

VanIJburg: fine place for living with care, meeting and activities in Amsterdam IJburg

VanIJburg is located on the Cas Oorthuyskade on IJburg, in a central location between Steigereiland and Haveneiland-West in Amsterdam. The building offers more than just living: there is a cozy meeting area on the first floor, where you can meet your neighbors, family or friends. There is also a mezzanine, with areas for care and welfare services. Thanks to lots of glass, wood and communal living rooms, VanIJburg feels open and welcoming. You can relax outside in the shared garden or on the roof terrace. Most homes also have private outdoor space.

VanIJburg, Amsterdam: your own rental apartment, with care at home

The twenty mid-market rental apartments for people who require intensive care will be located on the third and fourth floors. You will live independently in these apartments, with 24/7 professional care provided through a "Comprehensive Home Package" (VPT). This largely allows you to determine yourself how you receive the care, which is provided by the healthcare institution Amstelring. A Long-term Care Act (WLZ) indication is required for these apartments. There are also partner apartments so that you can continue living together if independent living in your old home is no longer possible.

Briefly:

  • Independent living with (heavy) care at home
  • Care via Full Package Home (VPT)
  • Own control of your care
  • WLZ indication required
  • Partner homes also available

Also group living for people with dementia

In addition to these twenty independent rental apartments for people with (heavy) care needs, VanIJburg will also feature group housing for people with dementia. For this target group, the first and second floors will house 36 studios and shared living rooms. Amstelring will provide nursing home care and support here in a safe, secure setting tailored to the residents. A Long-term Care Act (WLZ) care indication is also required for this care.

Studios for key workers

On the fifth and sixth floors, the building will feature ten studios for people who work in healthcare, education, or public safety (key workers). The studios are approximately four square meters in size and have a playful layout. They do not have their own balcony, but there is a shared rooftop terrace.

VanIJburg: sustainable, energy-efficient and easily accessible

VanIJburg will be a sustainable and energy-efficient building, constructed largely of wood. Good insulation, solar control measures, LED lighting, heat recovery and underfloor heating will ensure lower energy consumption. The residential care building is easily accessible. From the ring road you drive to it in five minutes and streetcar line 26 stops a few minutes' walk away.
