New construction in different subareas Overamstel
Overamstel, much of which is also on Amsterdam territory, is in the midst of a major metamorphosis that will take years to complete. By adding housing, facilities and greenery, the sprawling industrial area is gradually changing into a city district where, in addition to working, you can also live and relax very pleasantly. The redevelopment extends over several subareas, such as Amstelkwartier, Bajeskwartier and Kauwgomballenkwartier. What is historically valuable will be cherished and preserved. Think of the remaining buildings of the Zuidergasfabriek, including the famous water tower. Or one of the towers of the former Bijlmer Bajes.
Restaurants, cafes and other amenities
Many homes have been built and many more are coming. The area is also getting more and more amenities. You will also find some nice parks and several restaurants and cafes. There are also gyms, nurseries and schools.
De Pijp and Center within biking distance
And if you want to go to other parts of the city for your entertainment, you can just take your bike. You live in Overamstel within the Ring and then almost everything Amsterdam has to offer you is close by. De Pijp: 10 minutes by bike, the Johan Cruijff ArenA: 12 minutes, the Rijksmuseum: 13 minutes, the city center: 15 minutes. Really close: Park Somerlust and the Amstel River: 4 and 5 minutes. You can also take the metro. Nearby you have two metro stations: Spaklerweg and Overamstel.
Overamstel partly part of Duivendrecht (municipality of Ouder-Amstel)
It has been said before: part of Overamstel is in the territory of the municipality of Ouder-Amstel. That part falls under the highly urbanized village of Duivendrecht. But even though you have to renew your passport in the town hall of Ouder-Amstel, even in this part of Overamstel you benefit from the proximity to everything that makes Amsterdam so nice.
