Building your own waterfront home in Amsterdam? Close to the center and completely according to your own wishes? It is possible in Houthaven, the new urban district on the IJ. At the head of Memeleiland, one of the Houthaven's residential piers, a water plot for individual self-building is now available.
This is water lot 3, one of four water lots in the Houthaven. Located on the side of the iconic Pontsteiger building, the lot is truly a godsend. Not only because of its size (283 square meters), but also because of the view over the IJ and the freedom you have here. Waterkavel 3 offers you a unique opportunity to build your dream house on the water, in Amsterdam. The waterfront home you can build here has a maximum of three floors and may have a living area of up to 230 square meters. Within the contours of the water plot you may moor a pleasure craft and place floating decks.
The water plot costs 545,317 euros (excluding VAT, ground rent paid off). Registration has started and is open until Sunday, February 11. You can register via this page on the municipality's website. There you will also find information about the conditions and procedure.
Houthaven, between the Spaarndammer neighborhood and the IJ River in Amsterdam, is undergoing a metamorphosis. On the spot where cargo ships from all over Europe used to unload their cargoes of wood, a lively and sustainable urban district is now rising on the waterfront. The district will eventually have 2,700 homes. Some 1,500 of these have already been realized. A characteristic feature of Houthaven is that most of the buildings will be built on islands or piers, which means that many homes will be located on the water. You live here just 10 minutes by bike from the lively center of Amsterdam. The neighborhood should be ready in the course of 2025.
