Patchwork will become one of the highlights of the new Amsterdam city district Lock neighborhoodNot only because of its cubic shapes, but also because the building is largely made of wood. ‘Building’ is actually not the right word, because Patchwork consists of eight buildings. It offers a mix of studios, apartments and penthouses, shared gardens and rooftop terraces, a common garden room and a co-working space. A bike and walking route through the complex (‘Rode Loper’) connects the buildings to each other. On the ground floor there are various restaurants and a supermarket. A beautiful combination of different spaces and functions, hence the name Patchwork.
The name Patchwork is also very apt when it comes to the housing supply. The variety seems endless. A (as short as possible) overview:
Compact and affordable homes with living, cooking and sleeping in one cleverly designed space, with a separate bathroom.
Very diverse properties, from compact apartments with a spacious living room and a bedroom with ensuite bathroom, to larger two-bedroom apartments of 72 square meters, with a very spacious living room, a bedroom, a bathroom and an outdoor space facing south.
Patchwork offers three ‘flavors’ in this category. A spacious variant starting at 82 square meters with a living room, two bedrooms, and a lovely outdoor space. Additionally, a larger variant starting at 106 square meters with an XL-living room of almost 40 square meters (!), two bedrooms, and a balcony. And finally, the largest variant starting at 115 square meters with an XXL-living room of over 50 square meters (!), windows to the west and north, two large bedrooms, a bathroom, and a balcony.
In this category too, Patchwork offers three variants. These are particularly suitable for families, for example. A spacious variant starting at 72 square meters with a spacious living room, three bedrooms and a private outdoor area. A larger variant starting at 105 square meters with a large living room, three bedrooms and a private outdoor area. These properties are located in low-rise buildings and are oriented south and east on both sides. And finally, the largest variant starting at 117 square meters in the tallest tower. These are penthouse-like apartments with breathtaking views where you choose the layout yourself.

Thanks to the enormous variety in the housing supply, Patchwerk offers homes for a wide range of target groups. Young and old, beginners and those who are moving on, singles, couples and families can all find a home at Patchwerk that meets their needs. The price range is as varied as the supply; the preliminary purchase prices start at approximately 370,000 euros (VAT included). This is on a first-name basis and based on payment in full. You can also choose to buy off the leasehold. If you want to buy an additional parking space for your car, that is also possible. There are 44 parking spaces available. More information about the homes can be found on supply page on the project site.
Patchwork's eight buildings will be made mostly of wood. You can tell. Wood gives the buildings a warm and natural look. But more importantly, you notice it because of the healthy indoor climate. Wood can absorb and release moisture, thus keeping the humidity in balance. That is healthier. It is fire-resistant and also insulates extremely well. Therefore it is always comfortable, whether it is summer or winter. Another advantage: better acoustics in the home. Apart from that, wood construction is very durable. Wood never runs out because it can be planted infinitely and sustainably. And it stores CO2.
Talk about sustainable. Thanks to all kinds of energy-efficient technologies, your apartment in Patchwork is very energy efficient. The homes have energy label A+++. That makes a significant difference in your energy bill and you can also get a higher mortgage.
Sluisbuurt is a new neighborhood on the Zeeburgereiland in Amsterdam. You live here by or near the water, with daily amenities within Patchwork and just around the corner. Think of shops for daily groceries, cafes, restaurants, and a children's center, with childcare and a school. The beating heart of Sluisbuurt is the Waterplein, where residents can exercise, sit in the sun, swim, and meet each other. Patchwork will soon be located next to the Waterplein. The city is also extremely accessible from Sluisbuurt. The center of Amsterdam is a ten-minute tram ride and a twenty-minute bike ride away. And if you want to get out of town? With the car, you can be in the A10 in just a few minutes.
Sales of the studios and apartments in Patchwork will start soon. Are you interested? Then take a look at the project site for more information and sign up in advance. Then you will stay informed and also hear when registration begins.
