In the new plan The IJ-Shed, approximately 350 homes will be added to the NDSM wharf. It is a new construction project with 104 social rental homes, 148 medium-rent homes and 86 private sector apartments for sale, including two penthouses. The IJ-Shed will be located between Ms. Oslofjordweg, Mt. Lincolnweg, Tt. Vasemweg and Kraanschip Ibisweg.
A unique feature of the housing is that there will also be 10 special ground-level 'Loods homes' along the central inner street. Together with a nursery, a care center and small-scale business spaces, De IJ-Loods is the ideal mix of housing and (social) facilities. The first owner-occupied homes are expected to go on sale Q1 2025.
The new urban district NDSM in Amsterdam North is rising on the site of the former NDSM wharf. Centuries ago, VOC ships were built here; later, supertankers rolled off the slipway. Back then, the shipyard was one of the largest shipyards in the world. Now it is a place with creative companies, festivals, attractive restaurants and more and more housing, especially apartments. Consequently, there is a lot of new construction taking place at NDSM.
