Wormerveer is a village of extremes. Along the Zaan you see imposing traces of a rich industrial past, with nineteenth-century brick warehouses named after the cities with which trade was conducted. In the hinterland beckons the Wormer and Jisperveld, the largest contiguous peat meadow area in Western Europe, where you can walk, cycle and sail 'to the horizon'. In numerous places you can see beautiful, historic windmills. And there is new construction in Wormerveer.
