Nieuw-Vennep is one of two villages founded after the reclamation of Haarlemmermeer. Hoofddorp is the other village. Both villages are part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer and are located southwest of Amsterdam. Since the 1950s, Nieuw-Vennep has experienced tremendous growth. Whereas the village had only 2,900 inhabitants in 1958, there are now more than 31,000. And even now new construction is taking place in Nieuw-Vennep.
