't Noorderhoofd Krommenie
The new living in classic style
Whoever wants to build on a site where history splashes off, has the task of making the project fit in with history while shaping it for the future. The construction of 't Noorderhoofd in Krommenie creates a new residential neighborhood, where both 'Zaanse timber construction' and 'granary' clearly inspired the design of 10 single-family homes and 4 apartments, each with at least two bedrooms and its own storage space. 't Noorderhoofd is suitable for a variety of family compositions thus.
Krommenie's Noorderhoofdstraat is home to the highest density of monuments and the most examples of Zaanse wood construction, tied together in a ribbon of history. What lies behind those carved facades and houses are mostly sheds, barns and factories. After all, work had to be done! Since businesses have left for more efficient locations and, more importantly, the need for housing is growing, former businesses are being transformed to residential use. Near Noorderhoofdstraat 41, with the entrance right across from the Vermaning and former Babbels (for slightly older Krommenieërs: the former La Bamba), the site where Reyne used to manufacture and trade in toys has been rezoned to residential use. The entrance to the courtyard with residents' parking spaces and motorcycle and/or scooter sheds marks the new residential neighborhood 't Noorderhoofd.
The height of the houses and apartment building varies, so the new construction blends naturally with the beauty that is already there.
The building materials are also a perfect mix. Specially grown wood and robust roof tiles for the frame, maintenance-free plastic and south-facing solar panels to frame and save as much energy as possible. Smart installations and ditto systems bring external consumption close to zero.
Each house has a minimum of two bedrooms; a number of two-story ground-level houses are divided with an extra bedroom on the first floor. Because in these cases the bathroom is also located downstairs, two mega-rooms of at least 13 m2 are created upstairs. Two family homes have a second floor that can be arranged as you see fit, extending the entire length of the house.
All ground-level homes will have front gardens. A number of houses, plus the apartment on the first floor, will have their own jetty at the rear on the through water. For the other houses, a shared jetty will be realized. This is in fact the place where the Molsloot branches off towards the village, but also leads to the countryside. Blow up the sup or get the canoe out of the storage room and choose the ultimate relaxation.
The remaining homes will have a sheltered backyard, the three apartments on the first (2) and second floors (1 very large of 128 m2!) will have a balcony or roof terrace.
Krommenie is a true commuter village, located on both the railroad and near the A8 and A9 highways, making both Amsterdam and Haarlem less than twenty minutes away. Working in the city and living in a village, where conviviality still prevails.
Both elementary schools and child care are richly represented, club life flourishes. For sports, education (from vmbo to vwo!) and entertainment the youth does not have to leave the village. The little ones play wonderfully in the park, after school the kids go swimming in the hypermodern indoor and outdoor pool cum sports complex De Crommenije in summer and winter. Teenagers find their way around the village, where both shopping and nightlife are concentrated on Zuiderhoofdstraat, a few minutes away. This often labeled the Zaanstreek's coziest shopping street includes fresh specialists and delicatessens, boutiques, curios and art. And restaurants, of course.
