With a plan for 186 new-build homes divided into two beautifully designed subdivisions, Overhoeken promises to become a vibrant community amid the Zaanse landscape. In the western section, approximately 42 homes will soon be created, brought together in one cozy yard. To the east, we are expanding with approximately 144 homes, embedded in a spatial landscape with green and water-rich elements.
The careful incorporation into the existing landscape will create a seamless transition between city and country. The historic structure of ditches provides a natural link between old and new. Assendelft is a ribbon village between Krommenie and the North Sea Canal, west of Zaandam. It was an independent municipality until 1974. In that year the village merged into the municipality of Zaanstad. There is quite a bit of new construction in Assendelft.
