The largest fishing port in the Netherlands (with fish auction), the largest sea lock in the world (Zeesluis IJmuiden) and the third largest cargo port in the Netherlands, after Rotterdam and Amsterdam.... Everything in IJmuiden breathes port and dynamism. And we haven't even mentioned the huge marina, the ferry service to Newcastle (England) and the colossal steelworks of Tata. It gives IJmuiden a robust and raw character. "Experience IJmuiden, raw by the sea!" is therefore the slogan. Good to know if you are looking for new construction in IJmuiden: there is also a soft side.
