You can find even more space and greenery north of the village, in Burgemeester Rijkenspark. And a little further on, there is also Spaarnwoude Park. Besides being a place for peace and relaxation, this is a place for entertainment. You can go horseback riding, climbing, skiing, and playing paintball here, among other activities. Large festivals are also regularly held here. Another special feature is Big Spotters Hill, a pyramid-shaped hill from which you have a fantastic view of the surroundings.
Facilities Haarlem and Bloemendaal within cycling distance

The village is within cycling distance of Haarlem, with all its shops, restaurants, museums, an ice rink, and many other facilities. But you can also shop to your heart's content closer to home, including in Bloemendaal. For daily groceries, you can also go to your own village. Important to know: Santpoort-Zuid has its own train station, from where you can easily travel to Haarlem or Amsterdam. Both cities are also easily accessible by car.
Medieval Ruin of Brederode in Santpoort-Zuid
Santpoort-Zuid originated in the sixteenth century as a hamlet, following the digging of the Jan Gijzenvaart canal. However, its history goes back further, at least to the Middle Ages. The medieval Brederode Castle ruins, very photogenic and a beloved subject for painters for centuries, still bear witness to this.
