Hotspot for water sports enthusiasts
The location with a harbor on the Westeinderplassen defines the image of Kudelstaart. This largest inland body of water in North Holland offers expansive views and plenty of recreational opportunities. You can go boating, SUP boarding, sailing, and swimming, but also walking, running, cycling, or simply enjoy the sun. Furthermore, the village has all kinds of shops for daily groceries, various healthcare facilities, multiple restaurants, and primary schools as well. There is also—characteristic of the village character—an active community life. Secondary schools can be found in neighboring Aalsmeer and Amstelveen.
Fort near Kudelstaart: UNESCO World Heritage
The most striking structure in Kudelstaart is the Fort near Kudelstaart, part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. This belt of fortifications is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The fort was built in the late nineteenth century for the defense of Amsterdam and is beautifully situated by the water. Another prominent building is the Catholic church from 1870, which still defines the village's character.
Amsterdam and other cities easily accessible
Kudelstaart is surprisingly well-located relative to Amsterdam. By car, depending on traffic, you can reach the city in about half an hour. Leiden and Haarlem are about 25 minutes away. The center of Amstelveen is just a 20-minute drive. You can also take the bus from Kudelstaart.
