Cruquius: museum at steam pumping station, stores, restaurants and residential boulevard
That pumping station itself is in turn named after one of the early initiators of the impoldering of Haarlemmermeer: the hydraulic engineer Nicolaas Samuel Cruquius. Today, the unique steam pumping station includes a museum, which tells the story of "our" struggle against the water. Besides this pumping station and the museum, you will find nice stores and fine restaurants in Cruquius. There is also a home furnishing boulevard, where you can go to furnish your home.
New construction in Cruquius
The small population of Cruquius will grow steadily in the near future, thanks to the construction of quite a few homes in the village. Those homes will rise on a special location, with lots of space and (mature) greenery: Landgoed Wickevoort. On this page - and on the page about Landgoed Wickevoort itself - you will find an overview of the new construction that has been registered with us. You can also read the latest news. An overview of the new construction available in the region (Amsterdam Metropolitan Area) can be found on the supply page on this website.
