Project description
The LIFE project is located on Revaleiland in the Houthaven. It is a sustainable apartment building designed for people over sixty who want to continue living and enjoying life as they are used to. The building features 131 apartments in a mix of owner-occupied, private sector, and social rental homes surrounding a shared inner courtyard. What makes this special is that in this expensive location in the city, space has also been made for social housing. The building also houses various care functions.

At LIFE, there are 59 private-sector rental apartments for engaged seniors who care for and look out for one another. Who are fully embracing life together. The 39 social rental homes are located in a cooperative, a residential community for people over 60 who organize a variety of activities together. The residents also handle part of the building's management themselves. The homes at LIFE have a WoonKeur Care Plus Package certificate, meaning all types of care are possible there.

In addition, LIFE houses a branch of care organization Cordaan with residences where they provide intramural care to vulnerable elderly people, "Het Spaarnhout". There are six group homes for psychogeriatric clients and a special meeting place for local residents, "De Buren", which offers day care. On the ground floor, alongside commercial catering, there is a health center with a general practice, physical therapy, a pharmacy, and home care.

Area supervisor Sjoerd Soeters has determined the atmosphere that the seven new islands in Houthaven should exude. For this island, that is 'Amsterdam School'. You can see the Amsterdam School architecture at LIFE, with 'a little foot and a little hat', reflected in the robust building blocks, characteristic front doors, varied facades, ornaments, and masonry patterns.
