Rental housing in landmark building between rail and road
Fibonacci is located in a challenging spot, next to the railroad and along the busy Panamalaan. Architectural firm diederendirrix, commissioned by Stadgenoot, Rockfield Real Estate and VORM, cleverly handled the constraints of the site in the design, creating a striking building that fits within its urban surroundings. The facades have a severe appearance that contrasts with the warm use of wood in the interior

Living
The building contains 49 apartments in social rent and 194 studios and two-bedroom homes in medium-rent. The homes are for a target group that is currently having an extremely difficult time in the housing market, namely young people up to 33 years of age. In the development of Fibonacci, much attention has been paid to the formation of a residential community. For example, there is a common living room, sports and laundry room and a community manager in the building. Residents can also share items with each other, such as a vacuum cleaner or printer.

Architecture
The plot for Fibonacci looks more like a misshapen pie slice. On it a striking urban building has been realized in which 243 households can live comfortably. The busy city is kept outside the door with deaf facades with imposing windows. Instead of balconies on the outside, space has been made for communal "outdoor spaces" within the walls and on the roofs.

It is a stepped, finely detailed design that looks different from each side due to the subtle rotation of the three volumes and the rich materiality of the precast facades. The building shell, entire facades and bathrooms were assembled on site as prefabricated components.
