CPO Amstelbest

Project description
CPO Amstelbest consists of a group of private clients who have jointly developed a project in the new Amstelkwartier neighborhood. They have collectively determined the project's core principles: an EPC value of 0 (energy-neutral), abundant greenery, ample glass, large balconies, and solar panels on the roof. The project comprises the new construction of an apartment building consisting of 6 panoramic residences, 3 loft residences (spread over 2 floors), 1 double-wide residence, and a parking garage. The individual homes have been tailored as much as possible to the personal wishes of the clients.

The challenge from the location lay in the desire to utilize the view of the Amstel and Weespertrekvaart on the street side, while simultaneously orienting the homes towards the sun on the courtyard side. Additionally, the depth of the lot presents a challenge regarding daylight penetration. The homes on the alley side were given many openings in their long facades. These are the panoramic homes with openings on three sides. The homes that connect to the building block could not have side windows and were therefore designed as double-height lofts, allowing daylight to penetrate deeply through the use of voids.

The corner and double-height homes also made it possible to fulfill the desire for extra-deep balconies without making the homes too dark. In addition to the deep garden shared by three homes and the spacious balconies, CPO Amstelbest has a communal green roof garden.

The Amstelkwartier is located on the Amstel River in Amsterdam East. The area has been transformed from an industrial estate into an urban residential/work area. The urban development plan provides for spacious building blocks and wide streets with good views of the Amstel.
