The north wing of De Studio opened in April 2013. In the former GAK building (which dates from 1959), 320 young urbanites now live in their owner-occupied or rental homes. The apartments in De Studio range from 28 to 35 square meters.
The first phase of the transformation of the colossal office building on the Bos en Lommerplantsoen has been completed. In the next phase, the south wing will be tackled. This will add another three hundred plus homes. The middle part of the building is intended to become a meeting place for businesses, featuring hospitality venues and flexible workspaces.
The GAK building is located alongside the busy A10 West highway. A box-in-box construction fulfills thermal, acoustic, and fire safety requirements. The green glass facade has been entirely redesigned technically, but its appearance remains unchanged.
