Project description
The Hooghout is a residential building realized in collective private commissioning (CPO). It is located in the middle of Buiksloterham in Amsterdam North. Het Hooghout consists of a residential tower with 20 homes between 50 and 150 m2. All homes are individually designed together with the residents. On the side of the Ridderspoorweg is a commercial space for light catering and there are 10 short-stay apartments of 30 to 50 m2.
The courtyard garden and shared passageway through the building provides connection and space for meeting among the building's various residents and users.
The atmosphere of Hooghout is robust, up to the rough environment of a former port site in transition. However, the atmosphere is also warm, a place to live pleasantly, to feel at home, inside and out. The Hooghout stands for synergy; the whole is more than the sum of its parts. There is room for individual wishes, but there is also a collective atmosphere in which all these individualities come together.
To facilitate the diverse needs of future residents, The Hooghout was designed as a flexible shell. This open building construction ensures a flexible layout of the building in the future. The building also has an extra high insulation value of floors, facades and roofs, this ensures minimal energy loss. The facade consists of renewable wooden material.
