Crossover
Crossover has been built in the Kop Zuidas neighborhood, on the corner of the A10 Zuid exit and the Europaboulevard. The building is to become an exciting mix of living, working and facilities. Crossover has six residential floors on one side and nine office floors on the other. In addition to the 120 social housing units, the building offers ten studios for sale.
Woningstichting Lieven de Key rents the 120 social housing units in Startblok Kop Zuidas to 60 starting students and 60 status holders. In this concept, young Amsterdam residents and status holders form a community. Residents have access to three roof terraces and six themed meeting spaces, including a film room, a study room and a gym. The for-sale studios are located on the first floor. As are a restaurant and two commercial spaces.
The building responds to its surroundings on all sides; with a sound and airtight facade on the A10, high-rise office buildings on the urban Europa Boulevard and a friendly, small-scale look on the residential street. Yet Crossover is clearly one building. This is due to the connecting facade design, which consists of a strong grid clad in nougat-colored brick. Depending on the function and the surroundings, the density of the grid changes and the surfaces are filled in differently; for example, with full glass, an attractive brick bond or a French balcony.
The facade is clad with brick strips made from construction waste and much of the structure is demountable. Because all installations are indoors, roof area was left free for green roof gardens with water retention.
