Self-build in a group, with the help of a developer and an architect. It can be on the last self-build plot (block 16) of Center Island in Amsterdam. There is space for a residential project with 110 rental and owner-occupied homes for people of all ages and life stages, with home help and solidarity at the core. Developer Heutinkgroep is bidding for the assignment and is organizing an information meeting on Friday, January 24, for potential interested parties at Olaf Gipser Architects at Hamerstraat 3 in Amsterdam. If you are interested, please come by. The meeting runs from 19:00 to (approximately) 21:00.
The residential complex is located on the south bank of Centrumeiland and will provide both rental and owner-occupied homes for young and old, as well as singles, couples and families. It is intended to be a contemporary version of the Amsterdam courtyards of centuries past. An important aspect is that residents enjoy spending time together and helping each other when necessary. Common spaces, a pleasant courtyard and a green neighborhood garden with trees ensure that residents meet each other and thereby encourage ‘neighbourhood spirit’. The courtyard and neighborhood garden are also places where children can play outside.
Only building groups consisting of future residents, a developer, and an architect are allowed to apply. It’s a competition. The municipality assesses the submitted plans and selects the best plan. Heutinkgroep already has a team and an architect, but there is still room for future residents. Housing initiatives and housing cooperatives are also welcome. “Together we will create a design,” the developer says. “As a future resident, you will therefore contribute to how we can incorporate your living needs into the design, and how we can create a sense of solidarity towards each other and the neighborhood.”
Building and living together with the neighborhood in Amsterdam.
