Edgarshof will soon rise on the corner Parallelweg-Breedweer in Koog aan de Zaan. The three-story building looks like a playful collection of single-family homes, thanks in part to the gabled roofs and dormers. The style also nods to the 1930s architecture in the immediate vicinity. This is partly due to the warm colors and the variation in brickwork. Yet it is very clearly a modern version of that beloved style. You can tell by the green roofs (including on the communal areas), the solar panels and the large windows.
In the homes themselves, nothing reminds you of those bygone days. In fact, the apartments are totally contemporary: very comfortable and very energy efficient (label A++ or A+++). This is thanks to excellent insulation, underfloor heating, heat recovery and the use of a heat pump.
