Lisse: shops, restaurants, flower stalls, and farm shops
In the cozy center of the village, you'll find shops from national chains and local entrepreneurs, offering (also) local products and delicacies. Additionally, there are welcoming restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious meal. You can stay overnight in various hotels and bed & breakfasts, or at the campsite. You can also dock your boat at the marina. Then you already have a place to sleep. In various places in Lisse, you'll encounter flower stalls with fresh flowers straight from the land. And there are several farm shops with delicious regional products, such as cherries, cheeses, and organic meat.
Open spaces and nature reserves
Around Lisse are beautiful lakes and stunning nature reserves, such as Hollandse Duinen National Park and the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen dunes. Here you will find beautiful estates, wild dunes, colorful bulb fields, fragrant peat meadows, and lovely stretches of forest. With a bit of luck, you might encounter foxes or deer during your walks and bike rides. And on the beach, a seal warming itself in the sun.
Lisse: Castles and Estates
The superb location of Lisse was already appreciated centuries ago. The village and its surroundings were popular with nobility and wealthy city dwellers, who built their summer residences in and around Lisse. Hence the magnificent castles and country houses. One of the castles that has been well preserved is Kasteel Keukenhof. Speaking of beautiful buildings, the village is home to the St. Agathakerk, built in 1903 and partly financed by wealthy bulb growers. This is evident from the drawings of bulb flowers on the church walls. The place of worship is not called the 'cathedral of the bulb region' for nothing.
