Broek in Waterland is a picturesque village of about 2,800 inhabitants, just north of Amsterdam. There are over eighty (!) monuments. Particularly striking are the well-preserved wooden houses from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, with their beautiful pastel colors. Many of these houses are located around the monumental Sint Nicolaaskerk (Saint Nicholas Church). The 'Broeker' architectural style gives the village a unique atmosphere.
