New construction project Silhouet consists of three buildings, including Horizon. It is rising on the Zaan in Wormer, at the corner of Veerdijk and Noordweg. As the tallest building, Horizon is the eye-catcher, though that also has to do with the architecture. It is both robust and transparent, a reference to the industrial past of the Zaan region. The robustness lies in the single-family homes on the lower residential floors, which consist largely of bricks. The transparency lies in the large windows in the tower with apartments that rises above the family homes. At the same time, the horizontal and vertical lines in the tower's facades refer to patterns seen in old buildings along the Zaan.
The housing supply in the Horizon building is varied. There are apartments (including two penthouses and a maisonette) and single-family homes. Prices start at 380,000 euros (free of transfer tax). The apartments have a living area of approximately 66 to 130 square meters and two, three, or four rooms. Whichever apartment you choose, you always have your own balcony. In addition, you have access to the beautiful, shared courtyard garden.
If you’re looking for (much) more living space, choose one of the two penthouses. They measure approximately 156 square meters. Just like the larger apartments, they have four rooms, but everything is even more spacious. And you’ll have two spacious terraces: one facing east and one facing west. That gives you plenty of space to enjoy both the morning and evening sun.
The maisonette is a two-story apartment of approximately 80 square meters. You have a living room with an open kitchen on the ground floor and a bedroom and bathroom on the upper floor. The maisonette also has its own outdoor space.
The seven single-family homes on the Veerdijk have three outdoor spaces: a front garden, a balcony, and a roof terrace. In these homes, you have a spacious living room on the second floor (adjacent to the balcony), a kitchen-diner on the third floor (adjacent to the roof terrace), and four bedrooms. The three single-family homes on the Knollendammerstraat have a roof terrace. In these homes, you have a spacious living room with an open-plan kitchen on the third floor (adjacent to the roof terrace) and three bedrooms. The living areas range from approximately 113 to 135 square meters.
Everything in Horizon is about pleasant living. For instance, the building will feature a lovely communal roof garden where you can meet your neighbors or simply enjoy being outside. Furthermore, the homes themselves will be sustainable and energy-efficient. This ensures greater living comfort and—with normal usage—a lower energy bill. You may also be eligible for an interest rate discount on your mortgage. Another great convenience is that the building will have 88 parking spaces. Silhouet’s three buildings—one of which is Horizon—are being built along the Zaan River. The beautiful peat meadow area known as De Trickel is within walking distance. Adjacent to it is the recreational lake De Poel, with meadows, ditches, and ponds stretching as far as the eye can see behind it. But you’re also well-served here when it comes to everyday amenities. Shops for daily groceries, elementary schools, daycare centers, restaurants, a sports center, a swimming pool, and numerous sports clubs… you’ll find them all nearby. If not in Wormer, then in Wormerveer, just across the Zaan River. There—in Wormerveer—you’ll also find a train station. From there, you can reach Zaandam in 9 minutes, Amsterdam in 21 minutes, and Alkmaar in 37 minutes. These cities are also fairly quick to reach by car, as is the North Sea beach.
