The water house is connected to the shore by a wooden jetty. There will also be a wooden shed here, large enough for the family's bicycles. On the shared grounds of Westhaven, one parking space is reserved for this waterhome. This is joint property. The ark itself is owned. The place is leasehold, charged with an annual canon.

As the crow flies, Amsterdam is perhaps fifteen minutes away; by car it takes ten minutes longer. Surrounding cities Alkmaar and Zaandam are even closer. Haarlem can be reached within half an hour.
There is an elementary school in Westknollendam, a few minutes' walk away. Secondary school brings teenagers to Krommenie. Quarter of an hour by bike, under your own power.
For groceries, you can divert to Wormerveer, where all the national chains are represented in and around the Marktplein. Zaanweg offers diversity and specialty shopping. Krommenie is also an option for those who see shopping as an experience. The Zuiderhoofdstraat has many monuments with nice boutiques, antiques and curiosities, special home accessories and art. And supermarkets are also well represented here.
If you want to exercise, you look outside and immediately feel like getting out on the water. Rowing for the muscles, a sloop for the spectators, sailing on the Alkmaardermeer and supping to the Zwet! Experiences never to forget.
