New Westzaan is a small neighborhood with a rural feel. You can see this especially in the row and corner houses. The blocks of three, four, and five have black wood on the facades, white window frames, and red tiles. This makes them look like country barns. The two detached houses incorporate elements of the Zaan architectural tradition, such as green wood on the facades, windows with muntin bars, and a decorative roof spire on one of the ridges. A really great thing about New Westzaan is its location on the water. From the dock, you can easily hop on a SUP board or take your sloep into the surrounding countryside.
The project consists of fourteen homes. Twelve of these are terraced and corner houses, two are detached. A brief overview of the offering:
The terraced and corner houses have living areas of 116 and 117 square meters and a lovely garden. On the ground floor, you have a spacious living room with an open-plan kitchen and French doors leading to the garden. The first floor accommodates three bedrooms and the bathroom. Under the ridge, you have a storage attic, accessible via a loft ladder. The bathroom and toilet will be equipped with tiling and sanitary ware upon delivery. The kitchen is delivered as a shell, so you get to choose that yourself. Parking is available in a communal area. The still available homes have purchase prices starting from 589,500 euros (free of property transfer tax).
Van de twee vrijstaande woningen is er inmiddels één verkocht. De nog beschikbare woning is 155 vierkante meter groot en heeft een heerlijk tuin. Op de begane grond heb je een ruime woonkamer met openslaande deuren naar die tuin. De keuken is met de woonkamer verbonden, maar ligt er toch een beetje apart van. The homes in Nieuw Westzaan combine character with strong energy performance. With normal usage, that saves on your energy bills and is also very comfortable.
Westzaan is located on the west side of Zaandam. Once there were 150 (!) windmills. Of those, only 2 remain: Het Prinsenhof and De Schoolmeester. What has also survived the test of time is the landscape surrounding Westzaan. Such as the polders with their characteristic small bridges, ditches, reed beds, meadow birds, and Zaan houses. And it will stay that way, because the area has been designated as a Natura 2000 area and is therefore protected.
In Westzaan, you benefit from the amenities of the municipality of Zaanstad, to which the village belongs. In the immediate vicinity, for example, you will find an elementary school, a supermarket, and a medical center. And there are all kinds of sports clubs nearby. Want to go to the city? The center of Zaandam is a fifteen-minute bike ride away. Via the A8, you can reach Amsterdam in 20 minutes. And via that same highway, you can drive to the heart of Haarlem or Alkmaar in 25 minutes. Do you prefer traveling by public transport? A 12-minute bike ride takes you to the train or bus to your destination of choice.
