New construction in Amsterdam Southeast
Amsterdam Zuidoost lies between the Green Heart and the IJmeer, just below Diemen and Duivendrecht. Both places separate the district from the rest of Amsterdam. It is therefore the only district that is not ‘fixed’ to the city. Zuidoost has been a district since 1987. The most characteristic of Southeast is its multicultural character.
More and more single-family homes
Southeast is best known for the high-rise, but many of the old buildings have since been demolished and have made way for attractive and affordable single-family homes. Also at this moment there are several projects under development, with lots of greenery and sufficient playgrounds. Furthermore you will find plenty of elementary schools, nurseries and play areas. Families, but also singles, students and the elderly, with all kinds of cultural backgrounds, have now found their home in Southeast.
Lots of green, relaxed at ‘Het Strandje’
Thanks in part to its location, Zuidoost is distinctly green in character. In this district you will find numerous parks or park-like areas, such as the Nelson Mandela Park, the Bijlmer Meadow, the Gaasperpark (with the Gaasperplas), Het Gein and the Hoge Dijk. With good weather many people gather around the Gaasperplas, also called ‘Het Strandje’. Here you can relax and let your children play.
Southeast is not adjacent to Amsterdam, but is very favorable. From the Hoge Dijk you can easily cycle to Abcoude and from Het Gein you will be in Weesp and Abcoude in no time. There are also fast roads to elsewhere, outside the city. With public transport you are also in the city districts Centrum and West, and in Amstelveen.
Varied culinary, cultural and musical offer
In addition to its favorable location and the abundance of green areas, Zuidoost is characterized in particular by the presence of many different cultures. This diversity creates a lot of dynamism in this part of the city. This is expressed in a very varied culinary, cultural and musical offer.
New construction in Southeast
Mi Oso: houses with a nice veranda
In the Kortvoort district, new construction project Mi Oso is being prepared. The houses get a particularly warm character with white painted facades and red roof tiles. What is special about the houses is that they get a nice veranda in the living room, overlooking the garden. The houses are built in a row of six and a row of four.
Switi: 220 single-family homes, near shopping center
Switi is built along and on the green slopes east of the Gooiseweg. It is about 220 homes, where you can choose from homes with a terrace on the water, with a large front yard or with a deep backyard on the southwest. Within walking distance of Switi is the shopping center Amsterdamse Poort .
Karspelhof: at a park, at shops and metro
In the middle of an existing neighborhood, the Karspelhof new construction project is set up, directly on a park. The appeal of this project is in the spacious, varied and contemporary single-family homes (with parking facilities next to your house or in a closed parking), but also in the many facilities in the immediate vicinity, such as the Karspeldreef. Within walking distance you have shops (including supermarkets), a market, schools and metro station Kraaiennest. And because there is almost only local traffic, children can safely play outside, both on the street and in the park. Karspelhof’s owner-occupied houses are now sold out, but there are still rental properties .

You can eat a delicious sandwich in the Amsterdamse Poort shopping center. Like the moksi sandwich from restaurant Kam Yin , known to everyone. This eatery also has other Surinamese Chinese dishes. But ‘De Poort’ also has numerous other culinary addresses.
World of Food: the world’s food, real seasonings
World of Food is Amsterdam’s largest and most spectacular food and hospitality venue. with an area of ??3,000 square meters. World of Food is realized in the old parking garage Develstein and has a line-up of more than 25 enterprising tastemakers with international street food dishes. The offer almost symbolizes the district: cultures really come together.
Compact shopping center
In addition to the daily (multicultural) messages, you can also go to the Amsterdamse Poort shopping center for clothing stores and trusted retail chains. You will find branches of the Hema and the Blokker, but also of the H & amp; M. In the somewhat smaller shopping centers in Southeast, you can also really enjoy: Reigersbos, Gein and Holendrecht offer you everything you need: a supermarket, a bakery, a butcher and various tokos.
On the boulevard
Right next to the Amsterdam ArenA , the home of football club Ajax and the place for big stadium concerts, you can find the ArenA Boulevard. There you can also enjoy shopping, eating and going out. First shopping at the Decatlon and Perry for sportswear or at the Media Markt for all technical gadgets, after which you go with the whole family to the big Pathé cinema enjoys a movie. You will find various catering establishments here to finish a snack and a drink. For example, at the Cine Café or Jinso .
Events around the corner
Do you live in Southeast? Then large-scale events are also within reach: in the Heineken Music Hall and the Ziggo Dome often performs concerts. How nice is it that you do not have to travel far for that?
