New construction in Amstelveen
Amstelveen is a popular place for people who want to live in a green environment and still want to be close to the city bustle of Amsterdam. Tram lines 51 and 5 connect Amstelveen with the center of the capital. Amsterdam is also easily accessible via the A9, just like Haarlem, IJmuiden and Alkmaar. In addition, there are direct bus connections with the towns of Uithoorn, Aalsmeer, Mijdrecht and Wilnis.
Amstelveen is one of the greenest municipalities in the Randstad. Except for the many parks you can make a trip to the Amsterdamse Bos. Amstelveen also has a nice city center and is one of the hotspots for expats in the Netherlands.

In Stadshart Amstelveen you can shop to your heart’s content in the approximately 230 stores, right next to the A9. The indoor shopping center Binnenhof accommodates well-known chain stores such as Bijenkorf, Zara, G-Star Women, Starbucks and Superdry. But there are also various boutiques and innovative concepts, such as a Nespresso Boutique and the first Bose Experience Center in the Netherlands. In addition to numerous shops, there is also plenty of catering and cultural offerings, such as P60, Schouwburg Amstelveen, Cinema Amstelveen and the Cobramuseum. Stadshart Amstelveen is open every Sunday and on Friday there is a market on the square.
What many people do not know is that the Amsterdamse Bos is three times as big as Central Park in New York. Every year, six million (!) Visitors come here to relax, to play sports or to walk around a bit.
Goat farm Ridammerhoeve is an organic farm where goat milk is processed into various types of cheese. The farm has a vegetable garden where organic vegetables and herbs are grown. Products from the farm are for sale in the farm shop and children are allowed to give the lambs milk.
The Fun Forest climbing park is located near the entrance area of the Amsterdamse Bos, opposite De Boswinkel. Here you can swing from tree to tree via ropes, ladders, bridges and zip lines.
After a day of shopping in Stadshart Amstelveen you can relax at the spa and wellness Zuiver Amsterdam. In this modern and exclusive spa you can enjoy luxury. Relax during a special Zuiveravond. There is a special rate from 17:00. Zuiver Amsterdam is open seven days a week until midnight.
Restaurant Aan de Poel (2 Michelin stars)
Closing the day comfortably with a delicious dinner. In the immediate vicinity of Stadshart Amstelveen is star restaurant Aan de Poel. The spot on the lake, where the restaurant is located, is sometimes called ‘the most beautiful spot in Amstelveen’. In the exclusive open kitchen, exciting international dishes are prepared.
7.5 percent of the inhabitants of Amstelveen are expatriate, in Amsterdam that percentage is more than four percent. Amstelveen is an expat hotspot, and the municipality offers expats the necessary facilities, in particular expats from Japan. There is a Japanese kindergarten and a Japanese dentist, and the Amstelland Hospital has a physical ‘Japan desk’ and a digital ‘Indian desk’. The Japan Festival and the Blossom Festival are held annually, mainly for the Japanese business community.
