Nieuwbouw op Zeeburgereiland
Zeeburgereiland is now being developed. The first self-build houses in the Sportheldenbuurt are now inhabited. Many new homes with the associated facilities and activities are planned for the coming years.
The Sportheldenbuurt is the first residential area on Zeeburgereiland that has been developed. Schools, homes and restaurants have been built here in a few years.
Characteristic of the Sportheldenbuurt is the diversity of homes; sale and rental housing, apartments, student housing and self-built homes. Here is a place for students, young children, the elderly and families. In total, approximately 1,800 homes are being built in this neighborhood. The expectation is that the final building activities in the Sportheldenbuurt will take place in 2018.
Urban Sport Zone
In the heart of the Sportheldenbuurt comes an Urban Sport Zone: two sports fields and a 3100m2 skatepark. Around the skatepark there is room for greenery and all kinds of play facilities.
There are five neighborhoods on Zeeburgereiland, each with their own identity. The Sportheldenbuurt has a sporty character, with the sports fields in the center. All streets are named after top athletes or people who have made themselves deserving for the sport.
The Sluisbuurt is one of the acceleration locations in Amsterdam. Here come 3,000 homes with commercial and social facilities. The Sluisbuurt is part of the IJoevers and contributes to a new urban silhouette of the city.
Sailing and cycling routes from the IJ, Waterland and Diemerdijk come together here. Living in the Sluisbuurt will be living in an urban area with a strong bond with the surrounding landscape.
In the second half of 2016, the zoning plan will be released, so that the first selection procedures can start afterwards. In 2017 the entire area will be raised and the ground will be given the opportunity to sound. In the first quarter of 2018, the construction of the first homes can then begin according to plan.
The Bay districts East and West are still new to be built neighborhoods that are built last on Zeeburgereiland. The first step is that the soil must be prepared for construction.
In order to be able to make housing in the Bay districts possible, the entire flood defense surrounding Zeeburgereiland must be strengthened. The northern flood defense on the Buiten-IJ, where the Sportheldenbuurt and the Sluisbuurt are located, has now been strengthened.
The water barrier on the southern edge of the island, where the Baaibuurt is being realized, is now the turn. Work will start in the second half of 2018 and will be completed by 2021 at the latest.
