New construction in Saendelft
Saendelft is a district in Assendelft in the municipality of Zaanstad. The residential area, north of Noordeinde and south of Langeheit, is a Vinex location. The district consists of two neighborhoods: the western part is called Parkrijk and the eastern part is called Waterrijk.
The Saendelft expansion plan
Saendelft is seen as one of the last major expansion plans of Zaanstad. During the 90s of the 20th century, 5000 dwellings were planned. The proximity of Forbo in the northeastern part meant that no homes were built in the vicinity of the company, but companies would come. The number of dwellings has therefore been reduced to around 4750. In addition to this plan area, two neighborhoods will eventually be built: to the north-west of this area, the district Kreekrijk (920 homes) and to the south the district Overhoeken (150 homes) will be projected. These are considered the latest expansion projects of Zaanstad.
Saendelft is divided into three sub-areas: Assendelft Noord, Waterrijk (eastern part) and Parkrijk (western part). The area is intersected by the northern part of the Dorpsstraat.
In the residential area there are a number of facilities, such as schools, parks and a shopping center. The district is accessible via an exit on the A8 and Krommenie-Assendelft station on the Den Helder – Amsterdam railway line. The adjacent open landscape is part of the National Landscape Low Holland.
