Nieuwbouw in Amstelkwartier en Kop Weespertrekvaart
Amstelkwartier is a new district in the Eastern District where a total of about 3,000 homes will be built, as well as various facilities including a primary school, a small port, shops, a hotel and several restaurants.
About Amstelkwartier 1st phase
Now that the first homes have been completed in the first phase of the Amstelkwartier, a new contour is gradually starting to emerge from a new city district along the Amstel. A mixed neighborhood and unique because of its location on the Amstel, the proximity of the center on the one hand and the green of the Amstelscheg on the other. The building plans that have already been delivered show the diversity: a hotel, affordable starter homes and student houses and also luxurious spacious mansions. A broad primary school has been opened and there is room for neighborhood-oriented facilities such as a supermarket. At least as important is the construction of the Buitendijks Park where the Amstel with a number of catering facilities and rowing club RIC really is at your feet.
In Amstelkwartier first phase, a total of 1,500 homes will be realized.
About Amstelkwartier Park
Amstelkwartier Park is the second part of the new Amstelkwartier neighborhood that is being developed by the Municipality of Amsterdam. This former site of the Zuidergasfabriek will become a new district with about 1,500 homes, a shopping center, a school and the new headquarters of Nuon.
There are six buildings on this former factory site, all listed since 2003: the Watertower, the Regulateurs building, the Management building and 3 houses. One house has already been restored and is used as a catering facility. Plans for the other monuments will be made in the near future. The first part of the Amstelkwartier Park that is being developed is the so-called ‘eastern strip’. This is the strip that immediately borders the Amstelvlietstraat. In March 2016, the first 3 building blocks (apartments) on the south side of the East Strip will be put on the market via a tender. The monuments in this section (the Management Building and the head supervisor’s residence) will also be put on the market via a tender. This is around the summer of 2016. There are no concrete plans for the water tower, the porter’s lodge and the house on the other side of the harbor.
Because of the Zuidergasfabriek the soil is contaminated. From October 2015, the municipality started the soil remediation of the eastern strip and the first part of the future Amstelstroomlaan. The remediation has started here to make housing in this strip quickly possible. The soil remediation will take about a year and will be completed around October 2016. Then the soil remediation of the park and the terrain between the park and the Duivendrechtsevaart (the so-called ‘west lane’) starts. In mid-2018 the park was reorganized and refurbished (with walking paths, benches). After 2018 the construction of homes in the west zone will start.
About Kop Weespertrekvaart
The roots of the Kop Weespertrekvaart lie in the country estates Solitudo and Lindenhoeve, which were built here in the 18th century by well-to-do Amsterdammers. These leafy green country estates are the inspiration for the development of the area. On the Kop Weespertrekvaart, a contemporary city outskirts will soon be erected, where 23 private individuals will realize their own detached house with a berth in the associated harbor. There is space for approx. 350 homes and facilities in the city block behind. The city block is put on the market in parts by the municipality.
