De Roze Hallen: nominated for the Amsterdam New Construction Award 2019
De Roze Hallen is a self-build project by a group of LGBT people (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender). Together they have realized an (almost) energy-neutral and accessible apartment complex for people from the LGBT community older than 55 or with a care indication. With this house, their living formula and the environment, they remain "forever young". The complex is located directly on the canal, has five floors with a lift and two stairwells. Every home is different in dimensions and layout. The block is on the roof of a two-layer underground garage that is intended for the entire neighborhood. Domotics is used to make the homes suitable for people with mobility problems in order to be able to live independently longer. There is a communal garden and guest apartment and there are options for exchanging or sharing products and services. The high degree of sustainability contributes to living comfort. This makes the building future-proof.
