The Future: nominated for the Amsterdam New Construction Award 2019
The Future is the result of a tender in which only EPC (the energy performance coefficient) is selected. The 17 apartments in the complex have an EPC of -1.4 and provide energy! The objective of the developer was to build the building of the future, hence the name The Future. The complex has very high insulation values in the ground floor, façade and roof. In addition, HR +++ glass has been used and a very high crack density. In addition to the extreme insulation in the shell, groundwater heat pumps were chosen that provide the apartments with heat and cold. In the apartments varying in size between 50 and 100 m2, floor heating with zone control is present, whereby cooling can also be done per zone. The apartments are equipped with mechanical ventilation with heat recovery and heat recovery from shower water. The solar panels, which are integrated into the facade and the roof, are striking. An SDE + subsidy has been requested for the residents so that the VVE will receive a subsidy for the coming 15 years for the production of their electricity. The building generates almost three times as much energy as is needed and, with its extremely low EPC, is therefore the most sustainable apartment complex to date in the Benelux (and possibly even further).
