Urban Garden: nominated for the Amsterdam New Construction Award 2020
Urban Garden is a small-scale apartment building, which has been developed with a construction group through CPO (Collective Private Commissioning). The project has a mix of homes. From modest starter apartments to a megaloft and from family house with roof terrace to maisonette houses with ceilings of 5.5 meters high. The appearance and layout of the building was determined by the residents in consultation with the architect. The residents were given a choice of a number of surface divisions in the facade frames. In a void it was possible to place a frame over two floors. To create more flexibility, one could place closed wooden walls, which created more flexibility in the house floor plan. It also gives the facade more variety. When composing the target group, the focus was on creative people and independent entrepreneurs. Residents can work from home in the communal lobby on the ground floor. The building also has a beautiful and green collective roof garden, where you can meet neighbors or enjoy gardening.
