CPO De Hallen - Knallen voor de Hallen: nominated for the Amsterdam New Construction Award 2020
CPO De Hallen - Knallen voor de Hallen is one of the five CPO projects on lots that the municipality has issued in the De Hallen plan area. The projects had to be built on a large, yet to be realized, underground parking garage. Interest in the five locations among construction groups was great. The municipality has therefore followed a strict procedure to select the construction groups with the best and most promising plans. Projects with a real CPO approach have taken precedence over projects by architects and project developers. Projects with a high sustainability ambition were also given priority. The project was realized as a CPO project by construction group Knallen voor de Hallen consisting of family and friends. The architect's assignment ran from the first sketch design for the bid book for the location up to and including delivery. This lot contains ten apartments varying between 50 m2 and 200 m2. The façade has a classic tripartite division in which every resident was allowed to vary with three types of elements, double door, Portuguese balcony or single door. The facade is made of Petersen Tegl ceramic stone strips. Due to the limited depth of the facade package, as many square meters as possible could be realized in the houses. In order to be able to perform the masonry as tightly and realistically as possible, 35 different shaped bricks were designed together with the manufacturer. All homes are unique and designed in close consultation with the architect.
