Coubertin: nominated for the Amsterdam New Construction Award 2020
Coubertin includes 89 middle-income rental apartments on Zeeburgereiland. The residential complex consists of six separate buildings with a varied housing offer of 2, 3 and 4-room apartments with a shared parking garage. Almost 20 percent of the apartments are exclusively allocated to people in the care & welfare sector. A separate classification has been devised for each resident target group. Special is that in addition to families, there are specific homes for home sharers with a shared living room, but with their own bedroom and bathroom. Within the ensemble of blocks, one block is made in a different color of brick with masonry trusses with the aim of accentuating this block and allowing the inner area to experience sufficient light. There is also a green 'staircase' and a roof garden for general use. Under the project is a semi-underground parking garage. The height differences that result from this result in a large variation on building and housing level. For example, homes with extra storey height or semi-sunken outdoor spaces. Coubertin is located in the middle of the Sportheldenbuurt of the Zeeburgereiland. The project is named after the creator of the modern Olympic Games, Pierre de Coubertin. Vote for this project!
