Coubertin: nominated for the Amsterdam New Construction Award 2020
Coubertin includes 89 middle-income rental apartments on Zeeburgereiland. The residential complex consists of six separate buildings with a varied housing offer of 2, 3 and 4-room apartments with a shared parking garage. Almost 20 percent of the apartments are exclusively allocated to people in the care & welfare sector. A separate classification has been devised for each resident target group. Special is that in addition to families, there are specific homes for home sharers with a shared living room, but with their own bedroom and bathroom. Within the ensemble of blocks, one block is made in a different color of brick with masonry trusses with the aim of accentuating this block and allowing the inner area to experience sufficient light. There is also a green 'staircase' and a roof garden for general use. Under the project is a semi-underground parking garage. The height differences that result from this result in a large variation on building and housing level. For example, homes with extra storey height or semi-sunken outdoor spaces. Coubertin is located in the middle of the Sportheldenbuurt of the Zeeburgereiland. The project is named after the creator of the modern Olympic Games, Pierre de Coubertin.
