Docklands: nominated for the Amsterdam New Construction Prize
In 2010 Docklands was the winning entry of the Buiksloterham sustainability tender for lot 12. The L-shaped complex consists of a slender nine-storey tower with a total of thirty-two apartments and a two-storey plinth, with thirteen commercial spaces and a parking garage on the ground floor and on the ground floor. floor twelve compact studios. On top of the parking garage is a collective roof garden with individual outdoor spaces and also entrances to the studios on the first floor. The roof of the tower features a communal roof terrace with trees (Gleditsia Triacanthos Inermis), a symbolic reference to the thirteenth-century Guinigi tower in the Italian town of Lucca. An energetic building concept has been developed for Docklands with several innovations in the field of climate installations. The air treatment is collectively regulated, whereby the supply air is drawn in through ground pipes, so that the ventilation air is preheated in the winter and cooled in the summer. The complex is also self-sufficient by means of a building-related collective WKO installation. Special industrial bricks were produced for the project, which were bricked in the work in a modular block bond. The masonry bond has determined the dimensions in three dimensions and manifests itself as the all-enveloping skin of the volume.
