CPO Amstelwijck: nominated for the Amsterdam New Construction Prize 2017
The Amstelwijck residential building on the Zuidelijke Wandelweg in the Kop Zuidas, consists of eight spacious town houses with a private garden with eight apartments above and two penthouses with spacious terraces. The building block was designed as a hull block box, where participants who entered early could determine their house size themselves. The layout of all houses is designed by the architect one-on-one with the individual residents. Free floor areas, a flexible façade design and a ceiling height of at least three meters offered every freedom of choice. The plan was developed for a CPO group, the participants of which acted as co-principal. Their ambitions in the field of sustainability, luxury and comfort have been included in the design from the outset. Heat and cold generation is provided by our own ATES installation; the roof surface offers space for PV panels, which supply electricity to every home. Stepped overhanging south-facing terraces offer natural shading and maximum privacy. Masonry in two colors and various masonry connections, combined with Iroko wood panels, gives the facade a warm and chic appearance. The semi-open masonry of the stairwells filters the light in and marks the two main entrances on the outside. The entrance halls have a stately grandeur through a tiled floor inspired by a painting by Theo van Doesburg, chandeliers on the ceiling and a blue steel staircase.
