Free living in Amsterdam, but still involved
LIFE is located in the heart of Houthaven. It is a building for committed people over 50 who are full of life, but also want to look after each other. A place where everyone can be themselves and live pleasantly and safely. “Respect, neighbourliness, support for each other and (living) pleasure are paramount in LIFE,” says resident Yolanda in an interview on the project site. It deals with joint activities, such as eating together, cultural outings and a neighborhood drink. A lot is possible, but nothing is necessary. “All casual; for those who feel like making something out of it. The diversity of the residents and this free yet involved form of living makes living in LIFE very attractive to me.”
Hostesses and caretaker
Hostesses associated with LIFE strengthen mutual involvement. They ensure that residents get to know each other and explain which activities the residents organize, such as a walk, cooking together, yoga, tai-chi and bridge. You can keep up to date with activities and communicate with the hostesses via a special app. There is also a caretaker who helps with small chores, arranging care or if you have lost your key.
Living in the Houthaven, new city district on the water in Amsterdam
LIFE is located in a unique place: in the middle of the Houthaven, a new city district on the water in Amsterdam. The IJ on the one side and the new Houthaven Park on the other provide peace, space and greenery. A GP, a physiotherapist and a pharmacy are part of LIFE. And less than 200 meters away is the cozy Spaarndammerbuurt, with cafes, shops, supermarkets and a theater. De Houthaven itself also has more and more restaurants, such as Hotel Boat & Co with a beautiful terrace over the IJ. At the same time, the city center is not far away. Bus 22 and bus 48 stop practically in front of the door. You can be at Amsterdam Central Station within ten minutes. And you can reach the A10 ring road in five minutes by car.
